4414 S. College Avenue: Retail—Fort Collins, CO
Shear Engineering Corporation provided foundation and structural engineering services related to the new South entry at the existing commercial building located at 4414 South College Avenue in Fort Collins, CO. The new entry currently serves the Boot Barn western wear retail store and was completed in 2011. Shear Engineering Corporation provided the foundation and structural steel design for the new entry and also reviewed steel framing shop drawings for the structure. Design parameters included meeting the City of Fort Collins requirements for accessibility and the client’s desire for the finished product to match the look of the existing building. Shear Engineering Corporation performed all of the required construction inspections and also provided structural engineering services related to the interior steel framing that separates the building’s current tenants; Harbor Freight Tools and Boot Barn.

RV America service bay addition (4777 Marketplace Drive)
Johnstown, Colorado
Shear Engineering Corporation provided foundation and structural engineering services related a 30,000 square foot building addition to an existing metal building at the RV America site at 4777 Marketplace Drive in Johnstown, Colorado. Structural engineering services included but were not limited to foundation design for the metal building addition, retaining wall design for several site retaining walls and an oil service pit design. The RV America service bay addition will house new office space, an oil change bay, service bays, paint bays and a wash bay. Shear Engineering Corporation performed the required construction inspections including but not limited footing and foundation wall formwork and reinforcing and anchor bolt placement. Construction is scheduled to be completed and the new service bay addition is scheduled to open in 2012.

Storefront Remodel (8310 6th Street); Wellington, Colorado
Shear Engineering Corporation provided structural engineering services related to the storefront remodel at an existing commercial, CMU block structure located at 8310 6th Street in Wellington, Colorado. The remodel was done to give the storefront a more open and inviting look as well as to provide a more functional business entry. Shear Engineering Corporation analyzed the existing structure in order to determine the most efficient way to open up the storefront and allow additional door and window installations. A steel angle lintel was decided upon and Shear Engineering Corporation provided all the necessary construction drawings and details required to complete the project. The remodeled storefront currently serves a Laundromat facility and was completed in 2011.

Broncos Parkway Plaza: Retail—Englewood, CO
Shear Engineering Corporation provided foundation and structural design for the 11,445 square foot, mixed-use retail building at 15500 East Broncos Parkway, Englewood, Colorado. Some structural components of the building included steel bar joists and joist girders, steel stud framing, and structural masonry. Shear Engineering Corporation was also involved in construction aspects of the project including shop drawing review, and structural framing changes. Construction was completed in 2007.

Broncos Parkway Plaza: Offices—Englewood, CO
Shear Engineering Corporation provided foundation and structural design for two (2) 14,972 square foot, mixed-use office buildings on East Broncos Parkway, Englewood, Colorado (lots 4 and 5). The majority of the structure utilized wood framing, including glu-lam beams and manufactured wood products. Shear Engineering Corporation was also involved in construction aspects of the project including shop drawing review, and structural framing changes.

Guitar Center—Fort Collins, CO
Shear Engineering Corporation provided the civil sitework, building foundation and structural designs and construction observations for the 10,068 square foot retail center located at 813 East Harmony Road in Fort Collins, Colorado. Civil sitework design included the design for the utility (water and sanitary sewer) service layout, drainage system (including storm sewer system and stormwater detention), parking lot design, and grading design. Structural components of the building included steel bar joists and joist girders, steel stud framing, masonry, and steel lateral force resisting systems. Shear Engineering Corporation was also involved in all construction aspects of the project including elevation and grading certification, a final drainage, erosion control and water quality report, sitework revision coordination and documentation, foundation inspections, structural framing inspections, shop drawing review, concrete mix design review, and structural framing changes. The Guitar Center opened in 2007.
