Shear Engineering Corporation offers experience with structural design and analysis for a variety of different materials, including wood, steel, concrete and masonry. We also offer inspection services varying from construction inspections such as open hole, footing, rebar, framing, and grading and elevations certifications to structural consultation inspections for those looking to diagnose structural problems.

Listed below are church / religious building projects that Shear Engineering Corporation was involved with:

Snowy Ridge Church (320 West Trilby Road) Fort Collins, Colorado

Snowy Ridge Church (formerly First Free Will Baptist Church) is located west of the intersection of South College Avenue (State Highway 287) and West Trilby Road in Fort Collins, Colorado (320 West Trilby Road). Shear Engineering Corporation provided both civil and structural engineering services, including construction inspections and certifications. The project consisted of the design of a major church addition on approximately 4.36 acres. The original church was a 3,300 square foot structure. The new church addition design is 12,842 square feet. Phase 1 consisted of 6,757 square feet.

    Civil engineering services included:
  • City of Fort Collins approved construction plans.

  • Annexation to the City of Fort Collins / meeting.

  • City of Fort Collins design standards.

  • Design of Trilby Road to City of Fort Collins arterial standards.

  • Access and parking lot design.

  • Drainage improvements including detention pond and water quality design with temporary outfall to accommodate current condition and ultimate outfall design to accommodate widening of Trilby Road to arterial standards in the future.

  • As-Builts and Drainage Certification.

    Structural engineering services included:
  • Designing with a variety of different structural materials including structural steel, steel bar joists and decking, premanufactured wood joists, premanufactured wood trusses, wood rafter framing, reinforced masonry, and reinforced concrete.

  • Coordination and design of project specific elements such as the church steeple and baptistry.

  • Successfully linking the existing church structure to the new structure.

  • Construction framing inspections.

  • Coordinating construction field changes.

    Phase 1 of the Snowy Ridge Church addition was completed in 2004.
